OnSide Victoria supports the Centre for Multicultural Youth Issues (CMYI) Youth Pledge
To fulfil the Multicultural Youth Pledge CMYI need decision makers at all levels to:
Actively counter negative stereotypes developing around African, particularly Sudanese young people,
Work harder to engage with and promote the skills, knowledge and energy of migrant and refugee young people,
Develop a national strategy to tackle racism and discrimination,
Fund comprehensive research into the real situation for migrant and refugee young people,
Increase targeted funding for support services for migrant and refugee young people.

OnSide Victoria and Yarra Youth Resource Officers with the Victoria Police are working together to bring sport to the children of the three high rise estates in Yarra: Richmond, Collingwood and Fitzroy.
|
Toll Holdings have kindly donated 3 x 40 foot containers to be situated at each of the housing estates. Once kitted out with shelves and hooks by local youth doing community service, the containers will be filled with bicycles and sporting equipment.
This equipment will be loaned out to young people on the housing estates at nominated times. The library will be staffed by the police and local youth service providers. It is also the plan to get Sporting Victoria bodies to conduct clinics from the facility at different times with the view of supplying sports equipment from the sport of choice.
We would like to collect new and good quality sporting equipment and bikes in time for the Christmas school holidays so the residents of the flats can make full use of the service in the school break.
If you have any sporting stuff in good condition at home that you and your family are no longer using: balls, tennis racquets, hockey sticks, boots, anything - would you consider donating it to the program? Perhaps you could coordinate an equipment drive at your school
Donations so far:
Variety Club: 60 bikes $6,600 of sporting equipment
Toll Holdings: 3 containers
Nike: Sporting equipment
School communities conducting sports equipment drives:
Melbourne Grammar School
St Catherine's School
Kew Primary School
Glenferrie Primary School
